From Orlando we rented a car and started for Miami. Unfortunately we didn’t have much time to explore the surroundings, but we did enjoy two warm days at the beach.
Miami needs no introduction. It is known all over the Globe for its beaches and sunny weather almost all year round. Although August is known in South Florida as hurricane season, we were lucky with gorgeous blue skies, sunshine and warm water.
Located between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach is Florida’s trendiest vacation destination.
Miami City and Miami Beach are famous for their nightclubs, fancy restaurants and endless stretches of beaches. The cities boast stunning Art Deco architecture and an interesting mix of cultures.

The main place to admire the architecture is Ocean Drive. Lined with palm trees on one side, hotels, restaurants and beautifully restored buildings on the other, Ocean Drive is well worth a visit.
One goal that caught our attention was the Holocaust Memorial in South Beach. The prominent sculpture captures the agony of the victims of the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. During the planning period, many people opposed the construction of the memorial saying it would spoil the fun and party atmosphere of Miami Beach. In a vibrant and colorful city like Miami, this moving tribute to holocaust victims and survivors is sure to turn heads.
There are many places to visit both in Miami and throughout South Florida and we will definitely be back to explore the area properly. Our plan was to reach the West Coast of America, so the next day we boarded a plane to San Francisco.
