We left\u00a0Bonn<\/a>\u00a0in the morning and headed for\u00a0Schloss Drachenburg<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a unique castle that offers an unforgettable panorama of the\u00a0Rhine<\/em> and the surrounding hills (Siebengebirge<\/strong>).\u00a0The castle is built in Neo-Gothic style on the\u00a0<\/span>Drachenfels<\/span><\/strong> (<\/span>Dragon Rock<\/span><\/em>) hill \u2013 with an altitude of 321 meters, formed from the level of magma that could not come to the surface from the volcano, then cooled and became solid, forming the hill.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The construction lasted from 1882 to 1884, being considered “the most significant castle of the end of the 19th century in Germany”<\/em>.\u00a0The price of a ticket is 7\u20ac\/person, and if you arrive by car, you also have to pay for parking: 3 hours \u2013 \u20ac2, 6 hours \u2013 \u20ac3, 12 hours \u2013 \u20ac4.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ruined\u00a0Drachenfels<\/strong>\u00a0Castle was built between 1138 and 1167 on top of the\u00a0Drachenfels<\/em>\u00a0hill , with the aim of protecting the city of\u00a0Cologne<\/em>\u00a0from any assault from the south.\u00a0Burg Drachenfels<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was destroyed during\u00a0the Thirty Years’ War<\/em>\u00a0in 1634 and was never rebuilt.\u00a0Due to continuous erosion, only a few remnants of the old castle remain today.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Siebengebirge<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is a mountain range of volcanic origin that arose between 28 and 15 million years ago, consisting of more than 40 mountains and hills.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
