When it comes to Paris, there are plenty of reasons to visit the most romantic city in the world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Called the “<\/span>City of Light<\/span><\/em>“, the “<\/span>City of Love<\/span><\/em>” or the “<\/span>Capital of Fashion<\/span><\/em>“, Paris is not only full of internationally renowned attractions, but is a destination that has a lot to offer: art, food, drink, culture, landscapes, history.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We made a list of some of the Paris attractions that we visited, that we liked and that we want to share with you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Arc de Triomphe<\/strong> (Arc de triomphe de l’\u00c9toile<\/strong>) is the largest arch in the world and one of the most famous commemorative monuments, located in the center of the Charles de Gaulle Square<\/em>\u00a0(formerly called\u00a0the Place de l’Etoile<\/em>) from which 12 boulevards radiate, forming a star (\u00e9toile<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Napoleon I commissioned the Arc de Triomphe in 1806 \u2013 after his great victory at the\u00a0<\/span>Battle of Austerlitz<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(1805) \u2013 to celebrate the military achievements of the French armies.\u00a0<\/span>The arch, designed by Jean-Fran\u00e7ois-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Chalgrin, is 50 meters high and 45 meters wide.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the arch is the\u00a0<\/span>Tomb of the Unknown Soldier<\/span><\/strong>, and every evening at 6:30 p.m. its flame is rekindled \u2013 a tradition that was not interrupted even during the Nazi Occupation of Paris.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you want to enjoy a walk around the base and under the arches of the Arc de Triomphe for free, or pay a \u20ac13 fee to climb the approximately 280 steps to the top (tickets can also be purchased\u00a0<\/span>online<\/span><\/a>) and have part of a wonderful view of Paris, you should definitely not miss the most important tourist attraction in Paris.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Once you reach the terrace of the Arc, the panorama of the city is truly spectacular, and on a clear day you can see most of the tourist attractions in the city, especially the Eiffel Tower.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was supposed to be a temporary structure, but today,\u00a0the Eiffel Tower<\/strong>\u00a0is the symbol of Paris.\u00a0The original plan was for the tower to be dismantled after 20 years, but designer Gustave Eiffel added a radio antenna and telegraph transmitter to the top, and the French government decided that these would make the tower too useful to tear down.\u00a0The French ended up using one of the transmitters to jam German radio communications in World War I.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The Eiffel Tower celebrated its 130th anniversary in 2019 \u2013 it was inaugurated on March 31, 1889 and opened to the public on May 15 of the same year.<\/span><\/p>\n

More than seven million people visit the tower annually, making it the most popular and busiest tourist attraction in Paris.\u00a0Approximately 300 million visitors have been to the tower since its opening.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To avoid the huge queues at the entrance, we recommend visiting the tower in less crowded months such as January, February, the first half of March and November.\u00a0During the peak season, from mid-June to early September, you can wait up to two hours or even longer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
