Hallstatt<\/strong>\u00a0is one of Austria’s<\/em> mountain resorts and the oldest still inhabited city in\u00a0Europe<\/em>.\u00a0Located on the shores of the lake of the same name and 70 km from\u00a0Salzburg<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0Hallstatt<\/strong>\u00a0earned its mountain town title from a village where the Celts dug galleries and extracted salt 7000 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I wrote above, the area is famous for the extraction of salt, and here is the second oldest salt mine in the world and can be visited, the access is made with the help of the funicular.\u00a0<\/span>Unfortunately we arrived too late and couldn’t get in, so double\u00a0check<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0the timetable before visiting a tourist attraction, especially on public holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hallstatt is a small town that you can cross from one side to the other in just half an hour.\u00a0Exploring the city is the best thing to do when you get there.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The streets are lined with colorful houses, cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops, and with the gorgeous setting of the Hallst\u00e4ttersee<\/strong>\u00a0it’s hard to believe it’s a real place.\u00a0In 1997, the resort was included in the UNESCO Heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because it is such a beautiful scenic spot,\u00a0Hallstatt<\/em>\u00a0has a copy on another continent.\u00a0The Chinese fell in love with the unmistakable image of the area so much that they created their own Hallstatt<\/em>\u00a0in their country, the clone being inaugurated in 2012.
