Italy’s<\/span> Amalfi Coast<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is dotted with colorful towns, and the dramatic landscapes and idyllic weather have drawn people to the region for millennia.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is a\u00a0<\/span>UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and is considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The mountains and cliffs are dotted with historic houses perched above the crystal clear waters, making the coast one of the most visited destinations in the world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Positano<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>Ravello<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>Sorrento<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Amalfi<\/span><\/em>\u00a0are the area’s top destinations, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The Amalfi Coast<\/strong>\u00a0is located in southern\u00a0Italy<\/em>, in the\u00a0Campania<\/em> region, 50 km from\u00a0Naples<\/em>.\u00a0It is one of the most famous driving routes in the world, and driving along its curves, high on the cliffs, is truly spectacular.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The route starts in\u00a0<\/span>Sorrento<\/span><\/em>, ends in\u00a0<\/span>Vietri sul Mare<\/span><\/em>, and along the approximately 55 km, incredible landscapes await you at every turn.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

There are several possibilities to visit the area: by public transport (train, bus or high speed ferry), private transfer or rental car\/scooter.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

We rented a car from\u00a0<\/span>Naples<\/span><\/em>\u00a0airport and stayed in the small town of\u00a0<\/span>Gragnano<\/span><\/em>, famous for pasta production, which started here since the 1500s (<\/span>Pasta di Gragnano)<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

If you rent a car, one of the biggest problems is finding a parking space.\u00a0In\u00a0Positano<\/em>\u00a0it was the hardest to find something, especially since we arrived in the afternoon, and all the parking lots were already full, and where there was still availability, it cost 10-11\u20ac\/h.\u00a0Here<\/a>\u00a0you find a list of car parks on\u00a0the Amalfi Coast<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

We had two days to visit\u00a0the Amalfi Coast<\/em>, so on the first day we chose to go to\u00a0Salerno<\/em>\u00a0and included the towns of\u00a0Minori<\/em>,\u00a0Maiori<\/em>,\u00a0Atrani<\/em>,\u00a0Vietri Sul Mare<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Amalfi<\/em>, and on the second day we visited\u00a0Sorrento<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Positano<\/em>.\u00a0To truly experience this glamorous area you definitely need several days, even a week.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The best time to visit\u00a0<\/span>the Amalfi Coast<\/span><\/em>\u00a0is between April and June or the second half of September, when the temperatures (and prices) are not very high and there are no crowds.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Amalfi<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is the main road and maritime hub of the Coast and the town that gives the\u00a0<\/span>Amalfi Coast<\/span><\/em> its name.\u00a0<\/span>The picturesque town lies beneath steep cliffs on the south-west coast of\u00a0Italy<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

You can get here very easily from\u00a0Positano<\/em>,\u00a0Capri<\/em>\u00a0or other major destinations on\u00a0the Amalfi Coast<\/em>\u00a0by any means of transport.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Amalfi<\/strong>\u00a0you cannot miss the famous architectural masterpiece:\u00a0Duomo di Sant’Andrea<\/strong>.\u00a0The dome is famous for its special architecture, with Moorish influences, as well as for the fact that it houses the skull\u00a0of St. Andrew the Apostle<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

As well as sitting on the beach, you can stroll around the stunning town, past traditional boutiques and shops selling ceramics, handmade leather goods or delicious local citrus dishes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Amalfi<\/em> we parked at Parcheggio Berma<\/em>\u00a0and paid \u20ac17\/3h.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

About 3 km from\u00a0Amalfi<\/em>\u00a0is\u00a0Minori<\/strong>.\u00a0It is a small and authentic town, famous for its pasta making that dates back to the Medieval Era.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Also in the heart of the city are the ancient ruins of the Villa Romana e Antiquarium<\/em>, which features restored tile work, thermal baths and other interesting artefacts perfectly preserved.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Near Minori<\/em> is the town of\u00a0Maiori<\/strong>\u00a0which has the longest beach on the Amalfi Coast<\/em> (930m long and 40m wide) and one of the few sandy beaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The towns of Maiori<\/em> and Minori<\/em> are connected to The Path of Lemons<\/strong> trail<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Spend a day among lemon groves and stunning sea views.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Atrani<\/strong>\u00a0is Italy<\/em>‘s smallest city, with an area of \u200b\u200b0.12 km2.\u00a0The town is only a few minutes’ walk from the town of Amalfi<\/em>, making it easy to access.\u00a0The beach in Atrani<\/em> is the right place to relax, the sunbeds and umbrellas having a lower price than in other towns on the Coast.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Vietri Sul Mare<\/strong>\u00a0is known for its ceramics industry and considered the gateway to the Amalfi Coast<\/em>.\u00a0Vietri ceramics are characterized by bright colors and bold designs and are exported worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Ornate and vibrant plaques can be found all over the city \u2013 in churches, alleys, on walls, fences, floors and in courtyards.<\/span><\/p>\n

To see the cultural heritage of the city you can visit the multitude of ceramic shops, including Ceramica Pinto<\/em>, but also the Museum of Ceramics<\/em> and the Solimene Ceramic Factory<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to these, there are other sights such as the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena<\/em>, which dates back to the 14th century, and the Dragonara Castle<\/em>, built in the 17th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Salerno<\/strong>\u00a0is located in the Gulf of Salerno<\/em> and known for its historical and cultural heritage.\u00a0It was an important center of learning in the Middle Ages and the birthplace of modern European university medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Salerno<\/strong> is home to interesting sights such as the Arechi Castle<\/em>, a fortress built in the 8th century, and the Cathedral of Salerno<\/em>, which dates back to the 12th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

If you’ve seen pictures of the Amalfi Coast<\/em>, chances are you’ve seen the town of\u00a0Positano<\/strong>.\u00a0With its brightly colored houses spilling over the cliffs surrounding the bay and the mountains rising behind, Positano<\/em> is a place steeped in stories and the absolute gem of the Amalfi Coast<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The largest and most emblematic beach in Positano<\/em> is Spiaggia Grande<\/em>, also called Marina Grande Beach<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want a quiet place on the Amalfi Coast<\/em>, visit\u00a0Scala<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0It is the oldest village on the Amalfi Coast<\/em>, founded – according to legend – in the 4th century AD.\u00a0by the Roman castaways with the aim of reaching Constantinople<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Scala<\/strong> is scattered in many hamlets on the mountainside and some of the medieval walls of ancient fortresses can be found throughout the valley, making it the ideal place for a hike.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Sorrento<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the main must-sees on the Amalfi Coast<\/em>.\u00a0The town is located on the Sorrentina Peninsula<\/em>, perched on the cliffs with superb views of the bay and busy harbours.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The historic center is made up of narrow alleys lined with cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The city is home to several notable landmarks, including the Cathedral of Sorrento<\/em>, the Basilica of Saint Antonino<\/em>, and the Correale Museum<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Sorrento<\/strong> is also famous for Limoncello<\/em>, a traditional Italian liqueur made from lemons.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We recommend you stop at Limonoro<\/strong>. We tasted lemon, pistachio and melon cream liqueur and fell in love with everything.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Sorrento<\/em>\u00a0there is the\u00a0Municipal Parking Achille Lauro<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 4\u20ac\/2h.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located in a natural and picturesque setting, on the border between the sea and the mountains,\u00a0the Amalfi Coast<\/strong>\u00a0is the most beautiful area of \u200b\u200bItaly<\/em> and we recommend you to visit it.<\/span><\/p>\n
